Project Cosmos unveiled: Amazon is coming to town
On Monday evening, Marysville City Council will be briefed on details behind Amazon’s plan to build a data center in the Innovation Park.
Marysville Matters has been following this closely for several months.
The city has been working on “Project Cosmos” for some time, even with plans of building designs and drawings in front of the architectural review board.
And on Wednesday, Amazon confirmed with us it is behind the project, saying it plans to invest $1 billion in the facility it plans in Innovation Park.
“For nearly a decade, AWS has proudly invested more than $10 billion in digital infrastructure in Ohio,” said Roger Wehner, Vice President of Economic Development, AWS. “As part of our long-term commitment to the state, we plan to invest $1 billion to build data centers in the city of Marysville and create new, well-paying jobs in the community. We look forward to working with state and local leaders to extend the impact of our investment to Marysville residents and the workforce of the Buckeye State.”
Last fall, we reported on conversations in public meetings about the data center and the city's ongoing negotiations with the company, who up until now is has been kept under cover.
That's typical for major economic development deals like this.
We’ll have more on this story in tomorrow’s newsletter.
Wondering how many permanent jobs this creates. Any idea where to find that info?
